New York Fashion Week, makes us slightly jealous for the selected few that can attend but we guess someone has to hold the fort back in Dubai.
Being day 3, we’ve picked some of our favorite collections and designers, that have graced the catwalk of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week so far.
Not only do we absolutely adore fashion designer, Choonmoo Park’s fashion label but we love her role in, Korean avant garde design since 1988.
BCBGMAXAZRIA was founded in 1989 by Designer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Max Azria. In 1991 Azria’s wife and muse, Lubov, joined BCBGMAXAZRIA as Creative Director. Named for the French phrase “bon chic, bon genre,” a Parisian slang meaning “good style, good attitude,” the brand embodies a true combination of European sophistication and American spirit.
Kaelen debuted her first collection during Fall New York Fashion Week in February 2010, focusing on layered knits and off-kilter shapes that juxtaposed drapery and sharp tailoring. Since then she has continued to embrace experimentation by playing with asymmetrical hemlines and redefining the button-down shirt, which she considers a wardrobe staple. While she has drawn inspiration from elements ranging from a tornado chase she experienced to Sam Haskin’s book “Cowboy Kate” and most recently, the Roaring Twenties for her Fall 2012 collection.
Bumsuk Choi, the name behind the menswear label, General Idea, launched his debut collection in the Spring of 2004 at the age of 26 making him the youngest designer to join the Seoul Collection in the Republic of Korea. Since the start of General Idea, Bumsuk has succeeded in building an international brand as well as collaborating with many major labels worldwide. In 2006 Choi designed the RENAULT F1 Team’s Formua 1 race car. Since then he has designed for Heineken, Absolut Vodka and in early 2010 the limited edition General Idea / Puma “Black Station Line” was launched exclusively in Asia.
